Moorestown 14 - Red Bank Catholic 3 (Reg Season)
Details of Game #2: Apr 01, 2016
Moorestown played sloppy lacrosse but came away with a 14-3 victory over the Casey's of Red Bank Catholic for it's first ever victory on the new stadium turf.
The Quakers jumped out to a 7-0 halftime lead and played lethargically but still beat a solid team from the Shore Conference in RBC. Moorestown played 23 girls in spite of being down several with injuries and missing senior captain Annika Nissen out due to illness.
Moorestown continues to get good energy from Quinn Nicolai, Julia Bolte and Ava Frantz who scored four, three and two goals apiece. Genie Santarpio also registered two goals and Olivia Alvarez, Britney Wright and Colette Smith chiped in with one each.
The heart of the team for now has been the defense as the Quakers continue to dictate the tempo of the game with its pressure and good goaltending from Lawson Hayes and Jess Goralski. Moorestown continues to get a solid performance from Jessie Britton on the draw and the Quakers have been outstanding on their ride, making it very difficult for the opposing teams to transition the ball up the field. Nicolai and Britton also led the way with three ground balls.
In spite of the uncharacteristic injuries and illness, the Quakers are playing well and building depth for the long season.
Next up is Hopewell Valley, a team that many consider the best in Central Jersey and a strong contender for NJ Group 2 honors.
