Details of Game #6:       Apr 16, 2016
Moorestown 7   -   Garden City, NY 8     (Reg Season)

The Gains For Brains Tournament featuring some of the country's top 16 teams, with the Quakers playing another national power from Long Island. Moorestown lost a heartbreaker to Garden City in overtime 8-7.

Moorestown found themselves down to the Trojans of Garden City 4-1 due to some untimely turnovers in transition and a yellow card but they valiently fought back to take a 7-6 lead late in the game. Every possession was contested throughout the game. It was a back and forth battle. However, with time running out late in the second half, Moorestown's last five possessions resulted in missed opportunities to win the day. A charge, three turnovers and a low percentage shot high shot did the Quakers in. Moorestown was able to stave off another Yellow Card man down situation in the last four minutes and gave themselves a chance to pull this game out.
Even still, Moorestown had it's opportunities to pull the game out as the defense held strong and goalie Jess Goralski make save after save, many point blank which continued to give the Quakers chances to seize the moment to make a play. A beautifully executed play by the Quakers unfortunately resulted in a shot hitting the post and the game proceed to go into overtime. There the Quakers defense once again stood tall with a chance to win in the final seconds. A turnover resulted in a flurry of activity where Garden City transitioned the ball into their 1/3 of the field and calling a timeout with 4 seconds left. After a disputed restart, Garden City was able to make two nicely executed passes and get a game winnig shot off with less than one second on the clock to send the Trojans into a wild celebration.
Moorestown was limited to 14 shots but unfortunately had 11 turnovers, which is a recipe for defeat. Draw control was 9-7 GC. The Quakers did prove however that this year's team can compete at the highest level and will be a force going forward in their quest for another TOC crown. New Jersey's top four teams went a combined 1-3 against New York's top teams. Every game was tight with two going into overtime and three of the outcomes decided by one goal.
