Moorestown 16 - Seneca 4 (State Championship)
Details of Game #23: Jun 01, 2016
Moorestown defeated the Seneca Golden Eagles 16-4 after holding a slim 6-4 halftime lead. Moorestown played 23 girls en route to the South Jersey Group 3 Title.
Moorestown won possession 12-10 and had 32 shots on the cage and totally dominated the second half to advance to Saturday's 4pm NJ Group 3 Final at Kean University. The Quakers seemingly wore down Seneca with numbers as the game wore on in the 86 degree heat.
Quinn Nicolai and Robin Panzarella led the Quaker attack with four goals apiece and Julia Bolte, Anni Nissen and Cailin Field each had two goals. The Quakers limited their turnovers to four which is below their seasonal average.
The goalie tandem of Lawson Hayes and Jess Goralski led the defense as Moorestown shut down Seneca after several crease goals for the visitors made things tense. Nikki Dadino had three ground balls and Jenna Martinelli and Delaney Lawler followed with two apiece.
The Quakers have been averaging 17 goals and surrending an average of 2.5 during their playoff run but the stakes get higher as the final 8 teams are all gunning for the TOC, Tournament of Champions. The winners on Saturday advance to Monmouth University next Wednesday.
