Moorestown 11 - Garden City 8 (Reg Season)
Details of Game #9: Apr 22, 2017
Moorestown knocked off New York's # 1 team and top five nationally ranked Trojans of Garden City 11-8 in the Gains For Brains Benefit at Cold Spring Harbor High School on Long Island, where 16 of the nations top teams competed.
Moorestown made themselves nationally relevant once again in the lacrosse world by taking down Garden City, who was highly ranked and coming in with a 29 game win streak, many over the top teams from New York.
The Quakers used a dominant draw control (14-5), outstanding defense and patient but aggressive offensive possessions to seemingly control the entire game. This in spite of two yellow cards that GC was able to exploit by scoring four of their goals, three that came late when Moorestown had a 11-5 lead.
Moorestown played with confidence and a purpose and executed the offensive gameplan and showed why it is always one of the top defensive teams nationally year in and year out. The Trojans had several turnovers due to pressure and Delaney Lawler and Rylee Brown interceptions. Robin Panzarella led the offense with four goals, while Ava Frantz and Quinn Nicolai tallied two assists apiece. Brown, Nicolai, Cailin Field and Kayla Frank dominated draw control. Nikki Dadino had two crucial ground balls on passed balls as they headed towards the restraining line.
Moorestown won by three goals but Garden City's offense was held in check for a great majority of the game until the Quakers were called for two yellow cards. The day was all New Jersey as the visitors (Ridgewood, Summit and Bridgewater) defeated four other New York teams to finish 4-0.
