Moorestown 15 - Notre Dame 4 (State Championship)
Details of Game #22: May 30, 2017
Moorestown defeated Central Jersey Group 3 Champion Notre Dame 15-4 in the semi finals of the NJ Group 3 Playoffs. The Quakers now take on Summit for the NJ Group 3 Title on Saturday, 4pm at Kean University.
Moorestown was not going to beat ND again by the same wide margin as in the regular season. Notre Dame is too talented and too well coached to allow that to happen. The Irish came in with a good plan and competed off the draw as well as any team against Moorestown had all season.
The Quakers did win draw control slightly 10-9 and only led 5-2 at one point but rallied in the second half to win comfortably by playing great defense, employing an aggressive ride and getting smarter offensive possessions. The Quakers won the second half 9-2.
Quinn Nicolai may have only scored one goal but was a beast on the circle with Kayla Frank as both won five an four draws. Robin Panzarella led all scorers with five goals followed by Kacey Knobloch's four and Ava Frantz's two. Emily Culbertson dished out three important assists which was matched by Nicolai.
The defensive back line of Dadino, Wright, Lawler and Dalmass were solid with numerous interceptions, ground balls and legal checks but it was their double teaming that was superb.
Kayla Frank also controlled the game with four legal checks. In all, the Quakers had seven interceptions, which may be a program record. Maddie Lucidi continues to shine in the cage with four key saves.
