Moorestown 10 - Ridgewood 9 (Reg Season)
Details of Game #2: Mar 31, 2018
Moorestown hosted powerful Ridgewood and came away with a narrow 10-9 victory as the Quakers enacted some revenge from the last couple of years.
After giving Ridgewood an early two goal lead, Moorestown went on a five goal run to finish the half. The Quakers had many opportunities to extend the lead but were shut down by the Maroon's goalie Kara Rehaim who made save (13) after save. Moorestown's defense held Ridgewood scoreless for close to 25 minutes and was led by Delaney Lawler who had a steal and four ground balls.
After an early second half goal pushed the score to 6-2, Moorestown had a chance to widen the gap especially after a Ridgewood yellow card. However, the Maroons scored during that man down sequence and seemingly got every draw. Ridgewood would go on a five goal run to take the lead and it wasn't until Colette Smith scored a beautiful goal off of a quick feed from Kacey Knobloch on an unsettled play off transition that the Quakers stemmed the tide.
Ridgewood would go up 9-7 and would attempt to stall the ball with close to five minutes to go and appeared on their way to victory but Kayla Frank wouldn't be denied as she drove to the cage from 40 yards out in transition to close the gap to one. Ava Frantz late game heroics in the last 40 seconds proved to be the difference as she closed the game with two goals and draw control.
The Quaker attack was led by Robin Panzarella's three goals with Frantz and Frank eaching netting two. Knobloch had a goal and two assists. Panzarella had seven of Moorestown's 11 draws. Field had three with the Quakers winning that stat 11-8. Moorestown only had six turnovers and outshot the Maroons.
It would appear the Ridgewood and Moorestown could meet again but only during the TOC. Both teams have plenty of work to get to the point as NJ lacrosse is once again stacked with 15-20 teams that will have a say in that happening.
